Day 3 ~ 90-Day Juicing Experiment & Detox Information

I’ve made it to day 3! Yippy!! Last night things got a little tough. I was feeling nauseous and really had to force myself to drink my juice.  When I wasn’t feeling nauseous, my stomach was growling and I was starving. Luckily I had a nice long transcription file to work on and it helped me to keep my mind off it. Before I knew it, it was time to go to bed.

This morning, I had an ounce of dread when I was thinking about what juice to make. I was feeling very hungry, but the thought of that “taste” in my mouth again was making my belly roll. I decided on the Waldorf Salad Juice, which is a simple concoction consisting of 1 celery rib and 2 green apples.  OMG! I found my favorite juice. This was delicious! It was sweet and tasty and didn’t have that “earthy” flavor to it. It is a transparent green drink that I want to drink every day! In fact, I even took a picture of it! The picture you see on the right is the very drink I drank this morning! I only have 1 more granny smith apple left, so I’m going to have to run to the store to get some more. I’m going to drink this once a day to help me get over the other juices that I don’t love as much.

I have been thinking about how I posted those pictures of me yesterday, and posted my weight for the world to see. It’s really embarrassing. I never even told my husband how much I weighed. But I’m trying really hard to take these feelings and turn them into positive motivation. And I know that before I know it, I’ll be in smaller and more healthy body and I will be proud to show those pictures so people can see what I accomplished.

So, today is more of the same… one minute I feel great and roaring to go, the next my belly feels yucky. Sometimes I feel starving.. others I don’t. I peed a lot yesterday,  but nothing else. I heard people get diarrhea while juicing, and I was prepared for it,  but it’s not happening to me! At least not yet.

So, it is the end of the day and I’m relaxing and listening to Pandora on my laptop.  Today was a pretty good day. I had a lot  of work (a good thing) so I didn’t get outside. I didn’t feel hungry as much today as I did yesterday. And in fact, I had a few moments of feeling extra energetic and happy!  But I also still had boughts of nauseousness all day.  I was just sitting here and was mesmerized by this song I was listening to called East Of The Full Moon, by Deuter. I’ve never heard of him before, but this song was amazing. Maybe it was just the moment, but I thought it was so beautiful that my eyes welled up and I closed them and just listened to the gorgeous sounds.

So my second juice of the day wasn’t as good as the first. I made it up, it was: a sweet potato, 3 smaller carrots, a small handful of spinach, a small apple, 2 small oranges, and a tiny mandarin orange. I think the potato really made the consistency kind of weird. It was definitely thicker than any other juice I’ve had so far. But I plopped in a couple ice cubes so the juice got colder than normal and that really helped.. it made it taste better! So I’m going to do that from now on.

I’m thinking of doing a colon cleansing before I go to bed… depends how late it is when I get the rest of the little bit of work I have left done. I’ll post about it tomorrow if I do.


So, this brings me to the next topic that is important for you to know even before you start a juice fast or make a significant change to your eating habits:

Detoxification Information

There is a ton of information out there about detox, so I will only talk about the basics here. I will follow this post with some links where you can find more detailed information.

As you eliminate the toxins from your body, be it chemicals in packaged foods, non-organic fruits and vegetables that have been sprayed with pesticide, meat from animals treated with growth hormones and poor diets, you will detox from these chemicals just like a drug addict detoxes from their drugs. Everyone’s detox process will be a little different, but the most common symptoms are headaches, moodiness, nausea, and acne. Some people will also sweat excessively, have post nasal drip, diarrhea, skin rashes, and more. If you have a disease, it will most likely get worse before it get’s better.

But just like a drug addict, you have to rid your body of its addiction to these bad chemicals in order to get healthy. And if you can make it through detox, you will come out on the other side a different person. The detox will be worth it because you’ll feel amazing. Too many people can’t push through the detox wall and go back to their unhealthy eating habits. They will not reap the rewards of those that do make it.

Don’t even think about those detox teas or pills, they don’t do anything except put more stuff into your body. You need to get the toxins OUT, not put stuff IN. The best way to speed up the detoxification process is with daily colon cleansing.  Yes, I know… you won’t do it. But you should suck it up and do it! If you don’t you’ll be missing out on a lot of health benefits. Colon cleansing, just basic water enemas that you can do at home, is one of the most healthy and healing thing you can do for your body. The Gerson Therapy recommends cancer patients do organic coffee enemas, but that isn’t necessary. Just plain water will do. In fact, humans have been doing enemas for centuries. The Mayans have carvings of enemas being done in their temples! And even in America, up until the early 20th century, doctors gave enemas to almost everyone, for any illness, because it works!

  3. Well, by now your experiment should have ended and I’m wondering how it went for you. I am currently finishing day 14 of a 30 day cleanse and feeling very good. My skin looks fantastic and someone I know told me today I looked younger! can’t beat that, or should I say beet that as that’s a lot of what I drank today.

      Thank you for your comment and for thinking of me! LOL about the beets! I does make you feel soo good, doesn’t it. Are you doing colon cleansing too? That really helps tremendously. I remember in my third and fourth week of the fast, feeling my stomach so empty. But it wasn’t hungry empty, it felt good… like there was no crap in there.. no pun intended! But I felt like my insides were much cleaner, and I felt so much thinner. I just really liked that feeling! I didn’t make it through the whole 90 days, but I did complete 30 days, which is a wonderful feat in and of itself! I am very proud of myself for this. Some days it was really hard! But I’m really glad I did it. And it has helped me to continue to want to eat better. My next challenge is to document my transition to a mostly raw food diet. I’m going to start another section on this website and start blogging daily once again! I’m going to juice for breakfast because I really believe in the benefits of drinking fresh juice on an empty stomach. Keep checking back as I hope to start this in the next week or so! :)
